Georgian College in Owen Sound soon will offer several courses dealing with the agriculture sector.
Continuing Education Manager Barb Carriere says one course will begin in the fall, and two certificate courses will be offered in January and April.
She says this fall they will offer a 20 hour course called Exploring the Small Farm Dream, which will help participants determine if starting an agriculture business is right for them.
Carriere says this course will give people a better idea of some of the issues surrounding farming and will also include an 8 hour day on a local farm.
In the new year, Georgian will offer two other courses, Alternative Opportunities for Livestock Production and Alternative Opportunities for Horticultural and Field Crop production.
Carriere says these courses will be targeted at people with a farm background who are looking at ways to improve the viability of their small farm operation.
She says Georgian in Owen Sound is ideally located to deliver these programs because of the number of small farms that already exist in this region.
Carriere says the details of the courses will be available in the College’s Fall Continuing Education brochure which will be available in early August.
