The fundraising committee for the Owen Sound Regional Recreation Centre generated an additional five digits to the cause this week.
According to tournament co-chair Dan Whittle — a little more than 20 thousand dollars was raised during their golf tournament on Wednesday at Cobble Beach Golf Links.
More than 100 golfers participated in the event, plus, it was an estimated an additional 50 people attended the dinner that followed the golf function.
The fundraising committee has already generated in excess of 1.25 million dollars for the facility, which has a price tag close to 39 million dollars.
The goal for the local organizing committee is to raise 5 million dollars
The new Owen Sound Regional Rec Complex will include two pools, a fitness center and two ice pads.
