There will be another public meeting tonight about proposed changes to the fire coverage area.
The meeting will allow residents to view and comment on the new boundaries for fire coverage before Council makes a final decision on the plan.
West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles says their fire departments have upgraded infrastructure and training that will allow them to cover larger areas.
Fire Chief Phil Schwartz notes the plan will also reduce costs — about 20 thousand dollars a year — since they don’t have to pay other municipalities for coverage.
Some residents are concerned about how the change will affect their insurance — but Schwartz says the rating is based on the closest fire station.
The meeting begins at 7:30 PM tonight at the Elmwood Community Centre.
