Hanover has come out with a price tag for hooking into the town’s water and sewer services.
This will impact 7th and 8th Avenue residents located on the north west end of town in the former Bentinck lands which were annexed onto Hanover a decade ago.
It’s going to cost 23 hundred dollars to hook into the water system and 33 hundred to hook into the sewer system.
For those who currently don’t have either service — they will have to shoulder the entire 56 hundred dollar cost.
Public Works Director Ron Cooper says Hanover is trying to make the payments more bearable by spreading it out over a five year period.
This impacts 78 properties — 33 of whom are Brockton residents.
While water and sewer hook ups are mandatory for all Hanover residents — it is optional for the Brockton residents.
Their payments however will not be spread over a 5 year period.
Currently there are 20 properties without water services and 58 properties without sewer services.
Work on the water and sewer hook ups will begin within the next few weeks.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says it’s all part of a larger, three million dollar water, sewer and road reconstruction project.
The cost for that project is being split three ways between Hanover, the province and the federal governments.
It will take 22 weeks to complete and includes work on 7th Avenue, 8th Avenue and 18th Street.
