The Hanover and District Hospital is in solid financial shape — that from BDO Dunwoody Accountant John Hunt.
He says the hospital books are balanced for the most part.
The 19 million dollar budget included a small 20 thousand dollar deficit after amortization.
However Hunt says this is of no concern especially when you take into account the hospital’s accumulated surplus of almost 9.5 million dollars over the years.
But Hunt knows the hospital faces a challenging year ahead.
Hunt says the new fiscal realities of provincial and federal deficits and their funding caps and restrictions will no doubt create some trying times ahead for hospitals.
He says Hanover is fortunate in the fact that it has a fiscally responsible hospital with sound management in place.
