It’s an exciting day for the Hanover and District Hospital.
The Hospital’s new Garden of Fond Memories will officially open today with a dedication ceremony at 11 AM.
The 100 thousand dollar garden was a gift from resident Bill Roseborough in honour of his late wife Karen who spent 38 years serving the hospital as a nurse.
Karen passed away last November and Roseborough wanted to pay tribute to her through the garden.
The garden is also his thank you to staff for the wonderful care Karen received.
Hospital Foundation Director Sue Patterson says the beautiful garden is a little oasis for staff, patients and family members.
Roseborough hopes the tranquil little garden will provide hospital patients and visitors a place where than can find some peace.
The garden has the potential to raise 3.5 million dollars in future funds through memory donations.
Patterson says there are many opportunities within the garden to dedicate to loved ones or pay tribute to doctors, nurses and support staff.
All funds generated will be used to fund hospital projects and equipment purchases.
