The Lake Huron Learning Collaborative will soon be offering college courses at the Learning Centre in Kincardine.
It’s the seventh year for the Collaborative, which has been successful operating out of Goderich.
President and Chair John Smallwood says it’s great to now have board members from Kincardine as well.
At last night’s AGM, the public was given a tour of the building on Queen Street, in the former Westario Building.
The Centre was established with a 500 thousand dollar grant Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer secured last year after initiating talks with Ontario Power Generation.
And the good news is, they’ve secured more funding — 95 hundred dollars from the federal government’s New Horizon’s program.
Smallwood says the new centre is going to offer a small-business course from Georgian College, something he thinks can be very useful in the community.
Smallwood says he’s really pleased with the response he’s been getting from local businesses, as everybody’s attitudes were very upbeat and encouraging.
Smallwood feels having a location and a presence in the community promotes education and learning.
