The Hanover and District Hospital is in recovery mode.
Hospital CEO Katrina Wilson delivered a sobering report at Tuesday’s night AGM.
In just a few short days — Wilson says the province will announce its hospital funding for the year, and the amount is expected to come in below the inflation rate.
She is troubled by that fact since union salaries continue to rise along with drug costs, supplies and other expenses for the hospital.
Wilson says the Hospital has become so efficient over the years that she doesn’t know where the savings will be found.
She feels they will have to come up with a new strategy.
This strategy will likely involve placing a key focus on providing 24 hour Emergency health care, acute care, and Operating Room services at the Hanover Hospital while re-examining other costs.
Wilson says it will also mean forging new and stronger partnerships with neighbouring health care agencies in the integration of services.
