Some big changes on the way for the Hanover and District Hospital Board.
After this month — Hanover, Brockton and West Grey will no longer have municipal representatives appointed to the Hanover and District Hospital Board.
Instead it will have only board elected members.
Brockton Councillor David Inglis — who currently sits on the hospital board — is concerned about the change.
Inglis thinks the move a mistake and feels the recommendation from the Ontario Hospital Association doesn’t fit rural Ontario.
He says rural hospitals like Hanover are unique, and benefit from strong municipal partnerships.
Inglis worries Brockton residents will no longer be adequately represented.
Brockton council was also quick to point out that while Brockton donated 60 thousand dollars towards the Hanover medical clinic build project — Hanover only donated 5 thousand toward the Walkerton project.
Inglis says Brockton has a vested interest in Hanovers health care system and wants to keep its voice at the hospital board table.
The changes will take place after tonight’s annual Hanover Hospital Board meeting.
