A major fundraiser for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada is making its debut in Owen Sound.
A Heel ‘n Wheel-a-thon will be held at Harrison Park on Saturday June 12th.
This is the first event for the city’s newly founded affiliate chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
Spokesperson Matt Frillman says you’re invited to walk, skate, or bike to help raise money to find a cure for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Frillman is hoping the Owen Sound event can raise 5 to 10 thousand dollars, while the national goal is 2 million dollars.
He adds it’s not only a way to raise much needed funds, but also a great way to raise awareness for a condition that a lot of people don’t like to talk about.
Registration will begin at 10 AM at Harrison Park while the Heel ‘n Wheel-a-thon itself starts at 11 AM.
To sign up as a participant or to pledge someone you can head to the event website at www.heelnwheelathon.ca
