Grey Roots Museum and Archives has won an award from the Ontario Historical Society.
The 2009 Museum Award of Excellence in Community Programming will be presented at a ceremony on June 12th in Toronto as part of the Ontario Historical Society’s annual general meeting.
Grey Roots was nominated for the award by Jeff Elie, the President of the Beth Ezekiel Synagogue in Owen Sound.
The museum recently produced an award-winning exhibit called L’Chaim that tells the story of the synagogue.
And Grey County Clerk Sharon Vokes says the nomination alone reflects the positive working relationship between te museum and the community.
This is the second recent award for Grey Roots or one of its projects.
The June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Volunteerism was presented in April to local retired teachers for their work in establishing a replica schoolhouse in the Moreston heritage village at Grey Roots.
Museum Manager Brian Manser and heritage interpretation manager Petal Furness will represent Grey Roots at the OHS awards ceremony next Saturday.
