Chances are you know someone who has experience some sort of heart problem — and has needed an ECG.
Now the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation Spring campaign is doing its best to raise funds so new ECG machines can be purchased.
Paul Weitendorf Executive Director of the Foundation says the spring campaign goal is 250 – thousand dollars to go towards the purchase of six new ECG machines as well as electronic filing of the test results.
Weitendorf says the provincial government covers money to run the hospital but there is little funding to buy new equipment for the government – that is why fundraising is needed.
Juditz Katz is the Manager of Nuclear Medicine says the replacement of the older machines is key as the ECG test is one of the key tests to tell if something is a miss with your heart.
Katz says the electronic filing of the testing is imperative so doctors at other medical facilities can read patients test results.
The spring campaign kicks off with a letter mail out from the hospital foundation in the next while.
