The Saugeen Conservation Authority is bustling with activity.
Development of the work camp located at the Saugeen Conservation Headquarters is well underway.
The camp will house 50 men who will be working on the Bruce to Milton power line project.
The Saugeen Conservation Authority is leasing eight acres of land to Valard Construction — the company that has been contracted to install the towers and power lines.
Manager of Lands Al Leach calls it a great business venture for the Conservation Authority.
Not only is the Authority collecting rent money — which is between 3 and 4 thousand dollars a month — but they will also get to keep the infrastructure that is in place once the work camp is disassembled.
This includes water, septic and hydro.
So far the gravel pad for the camp has been laid, the septic system is in place and hydro is up and running.
There are also a few offices trailers set up.
The work camp will also include bunk houses, a kitchen, washroom facilities, office trailers, a work shop, garage and storage area.
The work camp land lease agreement is expected to last 3 to 4 years.
