A big move happening for the Bruce Children’s Aid Society.
Their new 1.3 million dollar facility in Wiarton will be opening its doors for staff next Monday March 22nd.
The facility is 62-hundred square feet.
The Walkerton office will remain open.
Executive Director Shawn Jolliffe says it is a fully functioning office that will house about 8 full time staff members.
Jolliffe says the says there was no funding received for the project and there has been a mortgage taken out that will be paid for through their operating budget.
Jolliffe says it is important to note the decision to build the office was made several years ago during good economic times.
He adds some times decisions are made for better service – not just what makes good money sense.
Jolliffe says there is a large need for this office as the entire region is very large and this will give the northern section of the region better coverage.
Some staff will be moving from the Walkerton office into the Wiarton facility.
The new office is located at 269 Berford Street in Wiarton.
