Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller has put in his two cents worth as far as what should be in the next federal budget which will be presented on March 4th.
He says one of his big concerns which is shared by many farm leaders, is now money for agricultural programs is distributed and how that can be done better to get those funds out quicker.
Miller says in the Agriculture department, there appears to be enough money, but the problem is moving that money around so it get directed to the areas that need it most.
He says he told the Finance Minister that the Agriculture Minister needs more flexibility to move juggle these funds quickly without having to first get cabinet approval.
Miller also says when Parliament resumes he wants to push for measures that would encourage more young people to consider farming as a profession.
He says he has a private members bill that would help lower the threshold of income young farmers would need to be eligible for some farm support programs.
He also says its time for the Federal Government to get tougher with the US as far as the importation of American beef and pork is concerned.
Miller says currently Canadian exports of beef and pork to the U-S have to meet higher standards than the same products being imported from the U-S and its time the Government levelled the playing field.
He says by doing this it would give Canadian producers a better chance of competing and regaining some of their market share.
