Hanover’s growing pains were the topic of discussion at a recent Chamber Luncheon.
Hanover is turning to its business community for help in its quest to expand its boarders into West Grey.
The town is urging local merchants to lobby the Ministry of Municipal Affairs to intervene on the boundary dispute.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says local business owners have a vested interest in this issue.
She says Hanover needs room to grow and the additional lands will greatly improve the towns ability to serve as a regional shopping centre which serves about 50 thousand people.
Maskell says Hanover is willing to put everything on the table in order to hammer out some form of agreement with West Grey.
She says adds Hanover is willing to discuss any and all alternatives to solve this problem.
Maskell says it all boils down to jobs, saying Hanover has lost some major commercial projects because developers don’t want to negotiate with two municipalities.
To date Hanover has been unsuccessful in its attempts to annex lands to the east of town from West Grey.
