Bruce County Council will consider establishing a budget for the acquisition of new items for the Bruce County Museum.
Museum Committee Chair Mitch Twolan says they decided to remove plans for the new policy from the existing collections policy.
He says they will deal with it during upcoming budget deliberations instead.
Meanwhile, 2009 was an excellent year for admissions at the museum.
From January to December 15th — over 21 thousand people visited the Southampton facility compared to just under 10 thousand for the same period in 2008.
In 2009, over 108 thousand dollars in admission fees were collected, compared to just over 57 thousand in 2008.
Twolan says museum staff deserve to be commended for their efforts to bring the museum to the forefront through advertising and he hopes the success continues.
Twolan believes the exhibits are the biggest reason for the high visitor traffic.
He notes dinosaur exhibits always sell good to kids, who come with their parents and grandparents.
Twolan says the weather in 2009 could also have been a factor, but he thinks the exhibits were the biggest draw.
