Officials of a Goderich and Kincardine fundraiser for diabetes research want to give a little back this Christmas.
Organizer of the Dash for Diabetes, Frank Gardiner of Port Albert says there’s cash left over from the more than 57-hundred dollars the runs raised this past summer.
Gardiner says they’re offering Huron and Bruce County children who live with diabetes a 50-dollar cheque each with no strings attached.
Gardiner says the Dash for Diabetes donated 37 hundred dollars to ongoing diabetes research at the University of Western Ontario’s Robarts Centre in London.
Gardiner says it’s easy for kids with a verifiable diabetic condition to qualify.
He says you can call him at 519 529-3624 or e-mail glenfield@sympatico.ca to find out more.
Gardiner says the annual Dash for Diabetes is becoming a tradition which he hopes to expand to other centres in the near-future.
Gardiner says the event has been going in Goderich for seven years while Kincardine staged its first-annual Dash for Diabetes this year.
He says organizers are looking to stage similar runs in Port Elgin and Mount Forest in 2010.
