Those docks in Chesley Lake that were ordered out of the water by South Bruce Peninsula, don’t have to come out now.
Mayor John Close says council and at least 14 dock owners are past that point with an agreement of understanding being worked out.
Close says written agreements will be created, so that the municipality knows what’s on public land and that the owners of the docks have sufficient liability insurance.
The owners that have docks on public land right now will be the last ones to enjoy that.
Close says a procedural bylaw is in effect that will not allow anyone else to build new structures on town land.
