Tax rates in Saugeen Shores are going up 2.62 per cent.
Town treasurer Lori Sweiger says on an average assessed home of 260 thousand dollars — it will mean a hike of $31.05.
Still to come are the education and bruce county levies.
Sweiger says the town needs to raise almost 8.9-million-dollars to cover the 2011 budget.
Included in the budget is a 3 per cent increase on water and sewer bills this year which means on average, an eight and a half dollar increase on most bills.
Sweiger points out the town is finalizing the water and sewer sustainability study and the results of that review may have an overall impact on rates in future years.
Some additional funding for three groups is also included in the budget.
The Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce tourism promotion is getting a 3 thousand dollar hike to 140 thousand dollars this year.
The Port Elgin Airport Committee is getting a 4-thousand-dollar increase to $19,500 for its operations.
The Saugeen Rail Trail receives an operating grant of 15 thousand dollars — up 15 hundred dollars from last year.
Final approval of the budget is expected at the regular council meeting on March 28th.
