A Kincardine family has a working smoke detector to thank for alerting them to a blaze in their home.
Volunteer firefighters from Kincardine and Tiverton arrived on-scene around 7 AM on Saturday to find the Kennard Crescent house fully engulfed in flames.
There were no injuries.
The family inside were alerted by the smoke detector and escaped to a neighbours house across the street.
No damage estimate has been released but South Bruce OPP say the damage to the house and a van parked in the driveway is considerable.
An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
