Brockton has come through with a zero per cent tax increase for the 2011 budget.
However Mayor Dave Inglis cautions that doesn’t mean some taxpayers won’t be paying more than last year.
He says individual assessments of properties will dictate exactly what needs to be paid.
Inglis says councillors and administration have worked hard at keeping the tax rate at zero.
The Brockton operating budget is an estimated 12-million-dollars.
Meanwhile, each taxpayer will have to pay a 30 dollar surcharge next year.
Inglis says the money is for future waste management projects.
He says there are upgrade costs for the three landfill sites in the municipality and council is looking ahead to de-commissioning costs as well.
Inglis says the 30 dollar charge which could continue for several years, will be on the tax bill and can be paid quarterly like your taxes are.
