It’s been one extreme to the other for the Hanover and District Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
After facing the threat of closing its doors last year, the organization has now been asked to absorb little sisters from the Owen Sound area.
Executive Director Chantal LaDuke says the Big Brothers Owen Sound chapter is independent from the Owen Sound Big Sisters chapter that closed in 2010.
That has left 12 young ladies in Owen Sound without a Big Sister match.
Since Hanover already deals with Big Sisters, LaDuke says they were approached to restart programming for the girls.
But she says first they must consider their financial feasibility.
LaDuke says they are going to rely heavily on the upcoming Bowl For Kids’ Sake to raise more money than last year’s event.
She says they need to raise a total of 50-thousand dollars, which is half of this year’s budget, in order to take on the Owen Sound Little Sisters.
But with five dates instead of three this year, LaDuke is confident they will reach that mark.
LaDuke says they want to make sure funding is in place for years to come.
