A Cambridge man is dead, following a mishap in the Owen Sound harbour.
City Police were called just before midnight on Thursday to look for a man who had vanished from a boat in the Marina.
Inspector Stephen MacKinnon says two men from Cambridge came to Owen Sound to go fishing and were spending the night on a boat at the marina.
The men had been out on the water in the afternoon then returned to the dock and secured the boat before consuming some alcohol.
MacKinnon says the two went for supper and returned to the boat where one fell asleep.
When he woke up around 9:30 PM — the man looked for his 71-year-old friend who was not on the boat, checking the surrounding area and Kelso Beach.
After searching for nearly two and a half hours the 69-year-old man called police who responded immediately and re-searched the surrounding area.
The friends body was discovered face down in the water a short distance off the back of the boat.
MacKinnon says unfortunately it was a tragic ending to their fishing trip as the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A post mortem was to be done, but Police do not suspect foul play.
They are not releasing any names.
