A lot of docks that dot Chesley Lake are going to have to come out of the water.
Bayshore Broadcasting News has learned that letters have been sent to home and cottage owners saying the docks need to be removed by May 1st.
South Bruce Peninsula Mayor John Close says the docks are on municipal-owned land.
Close says a lot of the docks and structures were put on the land without a permit from the town.
He said last year there was what he called “a situation” that occurred with an owner and he said as you treat one you must treat all equally.
Close did not comment further on the so-called situation.
However he did say the Ministry of Natural Resources has raised concerns about the set-up at the lake as well.
Close says the municipality is asking the owners to remove the docks and get the proper paperwork and permission to have them on public lands.
He’s hopeful once the procedures are followed, the docks can be put back into the water.
