The ‘transparency’ word is coming up again at the Bluewater District School Board.
This time, though, Kincardine/Huron Kinloss Township trustee Jan Johnstone is taking to task some elected members.
In a notice of motion presented recently — Johnstone referred to “transparency” and how it relates to the executive council.
The executive council made up of the board chair, vice-chair and the director of education who meet regularly to set up future agendas for regular board meetings.
Johnstone says notes are taken at those meetings and those notes should be distributed to all trustees.
Trustees are welcome to attend the executive meetings but Johnstone says not everyone can and that’s why they should be transparent as well in sharing their minutes.
Johnstone says she believes she has support from other board trustees for her motion.
She says trustees have no authority to act individually on behalf of the board and that includes the chair and the vice-chair.
She says it’s the will of the board that makes the decisions.
Johnstone wouldn’t go any further into the issue.
The notice of motion will be dealt with at the next regular board meeting on Tuesday March 22nd.
