The Wiarton arena could have a new name in the future.
South Bruce Peninsula Councillor Marilyn Bowman says the Arena Fundraising Committee is shopping for a corporate sponsor.
They’re asking the sponsor to put up an undetermined amount of money for naming rights to the arena.
Bowman says phone calls have been made to various unidentified large corporations with no success but they’re still working on it.
She did say two of the corporations did ask for the group to call back later this Spring after budgets were in place.
The corporations said if money permits they would at least consider it.
Meanwhile, Bowman has presented the information to South Bruce Peninsula council in the hopes council will support the move.
It will probably be another week before any direction is given.
