The Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound will be packed today with those who want to find out more about staying healthy.
The annual Health Fair is being held today, and Chair Judy Porteous says it’s come a long way since the first one was held 14 years ago.
The first health fair was held at the PPG site in Owen Sound, and it was put together and for and run by the employees of the different manufacturing companies in town.
Since then, it’s moved to the Bayshore and in the past five years, Porteous says the fair has exploded with interest from not only the community, but exhibitors as well.
This year’s fair is at capacity with over 80 exhibitors, and Porteous says they’re expecting at least a thousand visitors to pass through the doors.
Event Coordinator Eileen Comas says there’s so much interest because there is something for everyone of all ages at the fair.
She says they have exhibitors from all aspects from physical and mental health to financial health, and new this year is management of your sleep health.
There are also door prizes throughout the day.
Admission to the health fair is free and the “opening ceremonies” take place at 9:45 AM.
The health fair runs until 3 PM.
