The Federal Conservatives are on high alert for a possible election ahead of next weeks budget.
Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb says as a minority government, they’ve always got to be prepared for that outcome.
He says the Finance Minister has been meeting with the opposition parties but they’ll have to see where the budget goes next Tuesday to find out if any concessions were made.
Lobb says they’ve got a six percent increase in the budget for healthcare and three percent for social programs.
He says the Tories are confident it will be a good budget for Canadians and they’ll continue to work on further action for seniors and low-income families.
As for the election threats, Lobb says they’ve been very clear that now is not the time for an expensive election as Canadians continue to recover from the recession.
But as the political rhetoric ramps up from the other parties, Lobb says they adjust their outlook accordingly.
