Hanover’s new P&H Centre will soon become home to the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
The Public Health Unit is setting up a satellite office in the P&H Centre that will offer a variety of programs including oral health, vaccine and flu shot clinics as well as baby programs.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says it’s wonderful news for residents.
She says the satellite office will provide residents with greater convenience, and eliminate the need to travel to Owen Sound for certain health services.
Councillor Selwyn Hicks agrees saying it is difficult for some residents to make the trek to Owen Sound.
He says the convenience of having some of these health services locally will be very beneficial to residents.
Hicks adds the Health Unit partnership fits perfectly into Hanover’s Strategic Plan for a healthy community.
Minor room upgrades are required to facilitate the Public Health Programs.
Some of the renovations include an extended counter area, a double sink, more cupboards and storage space and additional electrical receptacles.
Hanover will coordinate the upgrades and Public Health will cover the cost.
Public Health will move into the satellite Office on March 24th.
