The riding of Huron-Bruce seems to be a rarity in the provincial election campaign.
Incumbent Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell and her Progressive Conservative rival Lisa Thompson are examples of what the group Equal Voice wants to see in Ontario politics.
Mitchell is among 23 women running under the Liberal banner in 66 ridings while among the Tories Thompson is one of only 19 nominated candidates in 92 ridings.
The NDP under leader Andrea Horwath boasts 20 women of the 47 candidates they have nominated so far.
Equal Voice says there is still time to increase the number of nominated female candidates but at this point they don’t seem to be holding their breath in the hope that might happen.
