Students at St. Dominique-Savio in Owen Sound have just wrapped up a busy week entertaining some visitors.
The students are participating in a French language exchange, and hosted 20 students from New Brunswick this past week.
Teacher Linda Grenier says the students from New Brunswick are French first language and many of them came here and could not speak any English.
Grenier says this provided a great learning opportunity for her students, who served as translators during all the activities they took part in.
She thinks it opened their eyes and made them realize the importance of being able to speak French, as they can go anywhere in Canada and communicate in French or English.
Grenier believes the lesson will truly sink in when the Owen Sound students visit the New Brunswick students in June.
During the past week, the exchange students were taken around the Grey-Bruce area to do geo-caching, an outdoors day at Harrison Park, they took the plunge at the outdoor pool in Collingwood and even travelled to Toronto for a day.
The Owen Sound students head to New Brunswick June 1st to the 8th.
