When nurses intervene, smokers quit.
That is the message the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario wants to get out to the smoking public.
Coming off National Smoking Week, the group will be holding a smoking cessation workshop on Monday in Owen Sound at the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
The aim is to arm more nurses with information on how they can help smokers kick the habit.
Beth Karrow from the Grey Bruce Health Unit will be conducting the workshop – while two other nurses will be joining via video conference.
The Ontario based Smoking Cessation project has trained 560 nurses in evidence based smoking cessation interventions and 540 across Canada.
