Witnesses to a shooting at Grew Boats Manufacturing south of Rockford say they heard an argument before gunshots were fired.
Grant Loranger lives in a farm house across the road from the business on Highway 6 and 10 — and he tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he heard four gunshots.
Loranger says he was outside and he could tell it was gunshots right away — and he called the OPP as soon as he heard them.
Loranger says he heard arguments between a man and a woman — and a young woman calling out for her mother — before the gunshots were fired.
According to Loranger — he also heard a woman tell officers at the scene that someone had a gun to her child’s head.
Ken Cooke lives at the same house and he too heard a loud bang around 8 PM on Monday but he thought initially it might have been fireworks for Family Day.
A 44 year old male employee was shot at the business and remains in a London hospital with serious injuries — but he is expected to survive.
Loranger says he also saw a white pickup truck flee the property and head north towards Owen Sound.
The SIU has identified the driver of the truck as 61 year David Cameron of Chatsworth — the owner of Grew Boats Manufacturing.
His truck stopped on the Taylor Side Road after a spike belt was used and the driver exchanged gunfire with Grey County OPP officers.
Cameron’s body was found in a wooded area later Monday night.
Grey County OPP are asking for people with information about the incident to come forward.
The Special Investigations Unit continues to probe the shooting on the Taylor Side Road separately from the shooting at Grew Boats.
Communications Commander Frank Phillips says they will release more information once Wednesday’s autopsy of the victim is complete.
