Students from Kincardine District Secondary School will be showing off their technology skills tonight.
Team 781, or better known as the “Kinetic Knights,” is a robotics team made up of more than 30 high school students.
Team Captain Janelle Taylor says they will soon be taking part in a competition put on by the organization For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST).
Taylor says they have six weeks to build a robot for the challenge, and it’s almost complete.
She says the robot has to be capable of picking up and inserting three different shaped inner tubes and inserting them into a peg board to create the FIRST logo.
The robot is built entirely by students, with mentors from Bruce Power and other companies teaching them how to do it.
Taylor says she’s impressed with what they’ve managed to build this year.
She says there is even a mini-bot component, which plays a part at the end of the challenge.
The students will be showing off their work today during an Open House at the old Gymbags building in Kincardine.
The open house starts at 4:30 PM today.
