Perth County OPP have a 28 year old man in custody after an overnight standoff in Listowel.
Police were called shortly after midnight about a man described as distressed at a home on York Avenue North.
The man was found barricaded in the basement, and he refused to cooperate with police.
He also threatened to harm himself.
Officers roped off the area around the home and the Western Region Emergency Response Team was called in, along with the Western Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, and crisis negotiators.
Just after 6 AM Wednesday, police were able to take the man into custody without incident.
Police say there also was no danger to neighbouring homes at any time.
The 28 year old will be transported to Stratford Police, who have existing arrest warrants for him.
