This is Kinsmen and Kinette Week — a time to reflect upon all the good works these two organizations have done for local communities throughout Canada.
For Walkertons Kinsmen, the week is extra special as the service club celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
Vice President Dwayne Kaster calls the 75 years of service an incredible accomplishment.
He says not to many organizations can boast 75 years of service in a small community.
He credits the organizations longevity to the dedicated men who selflessly volunteer their time and talents to serve others.
Kaster says the 33 member organization is as strong as ever and eager to welcome new recruits.
Along with hosting the Walkerton Sportsman Show and their involvement with the Home Show, Kaster says the Kinsmen also do a lot of behind the scenes work in the community as well.
Raising money for cystic fibrosis and other worthy causes is another Kinsmen tradition in Walkerton.
Kaster says Kinsmen and Kinette Week is a great opportunity for communities across the nation to recognize the good works organizations such as theirs do on a daily basis.
He encourages individuals to consider becoming a part of a service club such as the Kinsmen or Kinette’s.
Kaster says it’s a great way to give back to the community while making important connections and friendships along the way.
