A boost for health care in Owen Sound.
The Family Physician Recruitment Committee has raised 24 thousand dollars.
The news comes as a strategy is being developed to build a new larger medical clinic in Owen Sound.
Committee member Jan Chamberlain confirms something is inthe works — but she says she can’t comment on that project.
But Chamberlain says the money they have raised is important to their goal of attracting new doctors to the area.
She says the money will be spread out to different health related projects through the Community Foundation Grey Bruce.
Chamberlain says one thousand dollars went to Medquest camp held last week.
10 thousand dollars will be put into bursaries for young Grey and Bruce medical students.
Chamberlain says the rest of the money will stay in a pot to go to attract new doctors to the City.
The money was raised through two events – including the third annual champagne brunch which raised 18 thousand dollars.
