A roll of the dice came up snake eyes for Brockton and other member municipalities of the Bruce Grey Huron Disability Transportation Corporation.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato says they were confident in obtaining some of the federal gas tax money to cover operating expenses.
He says they were unable to get the funding — which is usually set aside for capital expenses — and as a result his municipality is borrowing from reserves to cover their share of the costs.
Council has approved a 47 thousand dollar budget amendment that will see the money be paid to the corporation for their municipal share for the first six months of 2009.
Bagnato says they did not budget the money for this year because they were sure that they would get the funding.
He says if they had to do it again they would have set aside the money in the 2009 budget.
Bagnato hopes the remaining six months of the year will cost the member municipalities less.
He says it is a service that is very necessary and wants to work hard at making it operate efficiently.
Hanover, South Bruce, Arran-Elderslie, and West Grey are also part of the corporation.
