Two people have now tossed their hats in the ring …. seeking the Liberal nomination in Bruce Grey Owen Sound.
Selwyn Hicks is a familiar name, since he ran 4 years ago against MPP Bill Murdoch.
Hicks has decided to take another shot at it, and he feels they have a good shot at getting the riding this time, now that Murdoch is retiring.
He believes he has the ability to fight for the little guy and has what it takes to draw the Premiers’ attention to the riding.
Selwyn Hicks was originally elected to Hanover Council in 2006 and was re-elected in October 2010.
Meanwhile, West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles is also going after the nomination.
He says he’ll have to take time off, once the writ is dropped in September for the Ontario vote this fall.
Eccles would have to resign if he wins the riding for the Liberals.
The nomination meeting is scheduled for April 12th at the Owen Sound bayshore community centre.
Conservative MPP Bill Murdoch is retiring after some 20 years at Queens Park.
Bill Walker will carry the Tory banner this fall.
