Taxes are going up in Saugeen Shores in 2011.
Council has had a preliminary run-through of the operating and capital budgets and so far have cut a 3.37% increase to 2.97%
Town treasurer Lori Sweiger says staff has been directed to reduce it further to a 2.8% increase.
She says that means staff has to find a $15,000 saving or an additional $15,000 in revenue.
If they get down to 2.8% it means on an average assessed home of $260,000, the tax hike for 2011 would be approximately $35.
That does not include the education or county levies which have yet to be set.
Sweiger says a recommended budget will come back to Committee of the Whole at its regular meeting on March 14th.
Budget highlights include an increase in bag tags to two-dollars from $1.50 beginning this Spring.
At this point the budget also calls for the police services budget to come up $20,000 short which could mean a reduction in summertime police services.
