Owen Sound Mayor Deb Haswell wants developers to know the city is open for business.
She met with members of the citys’ economic development committee on Tuesday to talk about the experience some developers have had with city officials in the past.
Mayor Haswell says in feedback they received last fall at a round table discussion with local developers, the comments went from very positive to very frustrating comments.
In late March, Haswell plans on holding a full-morning session with senior managers of the city to discuss ways to improve the level of service each department provides.
She says no corners will be cut, but the goal is to make it a positive experience for anyone wanting to build in the area.
After the March meeting, Mayor Haswell wants to have another get together with local developers to hear their suggestions on what the city can do better.
She says growing the assessment base thru new business or residential development is key to Owen Sounds’ future.
