Residents of the Presquile area of Georgian Bluffs now have better access to their water.
The former Presquile water system has been decommissioned by the municipality and its users are now connected to the newer East Linton system.
Operations Manager Rick Winters says the decommissioning took place in January and directly affects 21 users, although vacant lot charges meant 34 were actually paying for the operation of the old system.
Eight of the 21 users require the service of a booster station because they’re on a higher elevation, and the municipality hopes to complete that process very soon.
Even so, all the Presquile users will see a drop in their water rates.
Winters expects the annual savings to amount to more than a thousand dollars apiece.
Users of the system will be able to learn more at a public meeting that will likely take place in March.
