Owen Sound is ready for whatever Mother Nature dishes out today.
City operations director John Johnston says the storm — which is bringing blizzard-like conditions to parts of southern Ontario — is simply par for the course.
Johnston notes “it’s something we have to deal with, living in the snowbelt, and crews are prepared for it.”
Johnston says workers know they’re on call 24/7, the necessary equipment is well maintained and the salt domes are full.
Johnston says it’s actually the high winds — which could gust up to 60 kilometres an hour — that could create real problems.
But he says vehicles and workers will remain on the job as long as it is safe for them to be out there.
As usual, Johnston says major routes and hills are the priority for the crews.
He says they’ll get to the less traveled streets and avenues later.
