A record amount of money was raised at this year’s Alzheimer Society Walk for Memories.
The Grey Bruce chapter held three walks on Saturday in Owen Sound, Hanover and Saugeen Shores — and raised more than 83 thousand dollars.
That is 11 thousand dollars more than the previous record set in 2009.
The Owen Sound walk raised 35 thousand, the Hanover walk raised over 27 thousand and the Saugeen Shores walk raised almost 17 thousand dollars.
About 170 people took part in Saturday’s walk — another new record.
Peter Carter of Teeswater raised almost 13 thousand dollars in pledges on his own.
The money raised will support the programs of the Alzheimer Society in Grey Bruce.
