The expansion at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton Hospital is nearing completion.
Vice-President of Corporate Services for SBGHC, Walter Yewchyn, says they’re about 99 per cent complete.
During a tour of the facilities recently Yewchyn says the various systems that go into a medical facility have been tested and approvals have been given.
Yewchyn says the expansion will be a tremendous boost to the efficiency of health care delivery and the availability of services to South Bruce Grey.
Once finished, the addition will provide room for the rapidly expanding Family Health Team, Physician Suites, and two new Birthing Suites for SBGHCs busy Birthing Centre.
The new addition is 16 thousand square feet at a cost of 3.7 million dollars.
Meanwhile, the chair of the public fundraising committee for the medical clinic, which is attached to the hospital, Morris Donnelly, says this is a great building for the people of Brockton.
He says the Family Health Team is located in the medical clinic and is already being used by local citizens.
Donnelly says the Family Health Team in Brockton is considered one of the largest in the province.
Construction of the new building began last November and an official opening will be this Spring.
