Yet another petition is being circulated by Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch.
The latest one is calling on Queens Park to put a halt to school closings in rural and northern Ontario ridings.
Murdoch says school boards have been ordered to justify the existence of many schools, while enrolment is declining.
The result he says is many smaller schools are closing and that is having a devastating impact on communities across Ontario.
Murdoch wants two policies, one for large urban centres and one for rural areas.
The MPP was contacted by a number of residents in the Chesley area, who are concerned the Bluewater school board Accommodation review committee, could recommend closure of their high school.
Murdoch says Dalton McGuinty promised during the 2007 election campaign to keep our schools open and he wants the Premier to keep that promise.
The petition is available on line and is also available at the MPP’s office.
Murdoch is also circulating a petition that calls for a standard bounty on coyotes of 200 dollars.
Right now, the bounty varies from county to county.
The Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP says hundreds of people have signed that petition, and it has been taken to several different ridings in the province by MPP’s also concerned about the growing danger of coyotes in their area.
Murdoch plans to present all the petitions when the legislature resumes sitting in the spring.
