It’s time to get your shoes laced up and get ready for the Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories in Grey and Bruce.
The event runs January 29th at three different locations: West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound, Saugeen District Secondary in Port Elgin and Hanover Heights in Hanover.
Bill Twaddle, the Community Development Coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Society of Grey and Bruce says the walk is always a good time to honour those that are living with Alzheimer and related dementia.
Twaddle says the walk is more social and is all held indoors so no matter what the weather the walking conditions will be good.
The money raised from the walk will go to support Alzheimer’s Society programs here in Grey Bruce.
The event is the finale to January which is Alzheimer’s awareness month.
Twaddle says there is also another part of the pledging this year where groups and businesses can challenge other teams for bragging rights of who raises the most money in their corporate challenge.
The day of the walk registration starts at AM at all locations and Twaddle assures everyone it is a fun family event that can include all ages.
The event includes entertainment, door prizes and refreshments.
Pledge kits are available now at the Alzheimer’s office at 732 2nd Avenue East in Owen Sound.
