It was a happy Christmas all around for the Bruce Children are Special Foundation.
Administrator Cherie Borho says nobody in need was turned away this Christmas and is proud to say in total they were able to help 409 kids.
Borho says one of their big success stories was the hamper program, which helped 325 kids and cost just over 15 thousand dollars.
The hamper includes a book, something off the kid’s wish list, hats, mitts and clothing, if they have the donations for it, and some hampers included a Wal-Mart gift card.
Borho notes their Adopt A Family program was able to help 32 families this year through the sponsorship of more fortunate families.
Another source of funding this year came from a second place win in a Pepsi Refresh and Pizza Delight Grant Program competition.
The competition nominated the Top Ten charities in Canada; the foundation was the only Ontario nomination.
Borho says their nomination brought awareness to the foundation, but thanks to the Walkerton Pizza Delight, they also received one thousand dollars.
Borho says their plans for the rest of the year includes raising money for College bursaries and preparing for their annual Summer Camp program.
