The CEO of Bruce Telecom Eric Dobson says they are not in the home alarm system business.
Saugeen Shores police report two residents received calls from a male caller supposedly selling BMTS Residential Alarm Systems.
Police believe the scam was an attempt to obtain personal information from the residents.
Fortunately, both residents hung up on the caller.
Dobson urges citizens not to buy into the scam.
He says Bruce Telecom is not in the residential alarm system business.
Dobson says the scam surfaces every once in a while in the region, having first heard about bogus calls about 6 months ago.
Saugeen Shores Police remind everyone not to provide any personal information when receiving an unsolicited phone call from a telemarketer.
Deal only with those companies with who you have an existing relationship and/or when you initiate the call.
